Shell Lubricants Solutions has launched an initiative to support local vehicle mechanics in Soshanguve with improved methods of managing lubricant waste.

On Friday, the global energy and petrochemical company hosted a media briefing alongside Motus Aftermarket Parts, Midas, and the Rose Foundation, focusing on responsible lubricant waste management in South Africa—an innovative industry-first effort. Local mechanics who are customers of Midas were also present at the event.
During the briefing, participating organizations presented recycling bins to local mechanics for the proper disposal of used oils and other lubricants, aiming to eliminate pollution and unlawful waste practices. The session emphasized collaborative efforts between businesses and communities to implement practical sustainability measures.

Company representatives demonstrated effective collection and recycling processes for lubricants, greases, and marine oils under the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policy, highlighting strategies to minimize environmental impact and protect soil, water, and ecosystems.
