The Premier Soccer League has confirmed that tickets for the 2026 MTN8 quarterfinal fixtures are now on sale, setting the stage for the first major cup action of the 2026/27 domestic season.
Tickets are available for R100 each at Open Tickets outlets nationwide, including Shoprite, Checkers and USave stores. Supporters can also purchase tickets online at www.opentickets.co.za.
With the MTN8 traditionally serving as an early-season test of form, the opening weekend is expected to draw strong interest from supporters eager to see how last season’s top eight clubs have reshaped for the new campaign.
Last season’s MTN8 was dominated by Orlando Pirates, who went on to beat Stellenbosch 3-0 after extra time in the final and secure a historic fourth consecutive title. That run has placed even greater attention on the Buccaneers this year, as they begin their defence at home against Durban City FC.
There are also notable changes from the previous edition. In 2025, Pirates opened their campaign against Polokwane City, while Mamelodi Sundowns faced Richards Bay in the quarterfinals. This year, Pirates have a different first-round opponent in Durban City FC, while Sundowns now meet Polokwane City in Pretoria.
Kaizer Chiefs also add extra intrigue to the 2026 field after returning to the competition, giving this season’s quarterfinals a bigger profile feel than last year’s line-up. Durban City FC’s presence further refreshes the tournament narrative, with the club entering the MTN8 after securing a top eight place in their first season back in the topflight.

The quarterfinal action begins on Saturday, 08 August 2026, when defending champions Orlando Pirates host Durban City FC at Orlando Amstel Arena. Kick-off is scheduled for 15h00. Pirates will begin the competition under pressure to extend their recent dominance, having turned the MTN8 into one of their strongest cup platforms in recent years.
Later that evening, Mamelodi Sundowns will face Polokwane City at Lucas Moripe Stadium, with kick-off at 18h00. Sundowns were convincing quarterfinal winners last season but were later stopped by Pirates in the semifinals, making this year’s opener another chance to begin a stronger cup run.
The remaining two quarterfinal fixtures will be played on Sunday, 09 August 2026. AmaZulu FC will host Sekhukhune United at Chatsworth Stadium at 15h00, before Kaizer Chiefs take on Lamontville Golden Arrows at FNB Stadium in the final quarterfinal at 18h00. Compared with last season, this year’s Sunday programme carries a different complexion, with Chiefs back in the competition and both AmaZulu and Sekhukhune looking to improve on previous MTN8 campaigns.
